Established 1999  |  Design + Build under one team

Managed from concept to final finish

We take on a limited number of landscaping builds at a time so timelines stay tight, sites stay tidy, and finishes get the attention they deserve.

If you want a garden that feels calm, considered, and properly resolved, you are in the right place.

“Ross landscaped two gardens for us, in Umhlanga Rocks and later in La Lucia. He has deep plant knowledge and a real gift for conceptualising and creating gardens that work. He is honest, reliable, and delivers on what he promises, backed by a long-standing team. We would gladly recommend him.”

CLAUDIA O.

"Thank you Ross & the Earth Landscapes Team for transforming our garden, home and lifestyle."

DALE E.

"Creative and visionary to space opportunities we had not dreamed of for our garden. It is not just a garden now, but an outdoor lounge, kids play area, and sports area."

HANNAH S.

The Landscape Process

  1. Site consultation and brief

We start with a walk-through and site analysis to understand how you live and use the space, what matters most, and the level of finish you want.

  2. Concept direction

We develop a clear concept that fits the architecture and the way the property is used, so the garden feels cohesive, calm, and intentional.

  3. Costings and timeline

Once the concept is agreed, we prepare a detailed project costing and map a practical timeline, so you know what’s happening, when, and why.

  4. Build and project management

Our team coordinates the build from start to finish, including specialist elements where needed, to keep the process smooth, tidy, and well managed on site.

  5. Planting, finishing, and handover

Planting and final detailing bring everything together. We aim to make this final phase quick and pleasurable, and we hand over a garden that looks finished, not “nearly there.”

FAQs

Do you handle the full build, or only the design?

We are a design + build team. We can take a project from concept through to construction, planting, and final finishing, all managed under one scope.

Do you work with architects and interior designers?

Yes. We regularly collaborate with architects, interior designers, and project teams to make sure the landscape fits the architecture and the overall brief.

How long does a typical landscaping project take?

It depends on scope, access, and the level of detail, but most projects run anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. After a site consultation we can give a realistic timeline and sequence.

Can you work with an existing garden and mature plants?

Absolutely. Where possible we retain what’s worth keeping, simplify what feels busy, and rebuild structure around the existing assets so the garden feels cohesive and intentional.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance after the build?

Yes. Many clients choose to continue with us after installation so the garden matures well and stays looking finished. We can tailor maintenance to the property and season.

Which areas do you serve?

We’re based in Durban and work across the greater Durban area for residential and premium commercial clients. If you’re outside this area, ask anyway and we’ll confirm feasibility.

Do you offer free quotes?

We start with a site consultation so we can understand the brief, access, levels, and the finish you’re aiming for. From there we provide a clear scope and an accurate costing based on real measurements, not guesswork.

What size projects are you best suited to?

We’re best suited to clients who want a cohesive, designed result - whether that’s a complete renovation, a new-build landscape, or a significant upgrade. If you’re not sure what the right scope is yet, we can help you define it during the consultation.

Before We Begin

Budget

We’re best suited to clients who want a cohesive, designed result rather than piecemeal work. If you’re still defining scope, we can help clarify direction, priorities, and budget before you commit.

Typical projects start from around R50k, with final cost driven by scope, access, and finish level.

Areas We Serve

Based in Durban, working across the greater Durban area including Umhlanga, La Lucia, Berea, Mount Edgecombe, Westville, Cowies Hill, Kloof and surrounds.
